Re: Peloton, the butt slap... I give up.

Well. Just to add another facet to this, being athletically fit seems to give others permission to touch you. At one point in my life i had aspirations to compete at an Olympic level (in fencing - Foil and Epee) and had under 8% body fat. When I was in crowded social functions my butt was often felt...

The “S” stood for “Spaceship”
It was a mistake. Truman was actually seen wearing a kokoshnik headdress. Although reminiscent of a space suit helmet, he was clearly only Ukrainian.

So sorry to hear this. But, I thank you for sharing as a reminder of how fragile they are and how scary it can get is always a good thing. I lost my Sun Conure, Kiva, in a similar incident (involving a dog) and it was brutal. I have two 18 year old fids, and African Grey and a Panama Amazon. They bo...

Re: Trump v CA over Requirement to Release Tax Returns

The only argument that I could consider for the newly signed law is that it doesnt inflict new qualifications to be president. It does not require that one has paid one's taxes or of any amount of income or any characteristic of the candidatd. He has to be neither taller or shorter, wealthier or poo...

Re: The Weight-Management Thread

Losing your circadian rhythm while fasting would be more likely depending on many factors including the amount of light hitting your retina during a small window in the morning. I would bet, that when you lose the circadian and are dysfunctional, that your time precesses, that is, the non-circadian ...

Cool ramble, Danraft. I know just enough about genetics and biology to follow what you're saying (without ever dreaming of adding anything substantive to the discussion). Though I did find myself telling my ENT doc on Wednesday, as we discussed IF and low carb and he expressed his concern that if h...

Re Diet, BMI, and metabolic disease. Yes, it sure is a complicated topic. I've been doing a review of scientific literature on chronic illnesses, and there are sufficient connections to this topic that I can appreciate the various narratives here. Much of this area is under constant revision , so I'...

Re: The Democrats have to impeach him....

I skimmed through this quickly, so if its been said, I think it still bears repeating. Its about the process, not the outcome. How was the Clinton impeachment? It wasn't a victory at the end. Its about WHAT HASN'T HAPPENED. Because the GOP controlled House and Senate there were not open hearings. Un...

Re: Trump - POTUS Tweets and Social Media

It wasn't just a graphic on a misleading tweet from Trump. It was a screen shot of a FOX graphic, and ,Lou Dobbs talked about it, digressed for a minute, then went back to it, with a guest talking about how "correct" that was... And that was a perfect screen grab. So, a fake graphic Lou Dobbs endors...

Trump's tweets are hitting a new level of "inciting" , admitting obstruction, and sheer insanity. The pedantic discussion of case law is worthy of discussion...somewhere.

Re: Trump - POTUS Tweets and Social Media

I think the "Handmaid Tale" analogy is bogus. Disney characters were created by Disney for Disney's use as the essence of their image. The movie adaptation is just that. But, the Music created for that movie was a unique creation . The Music, original song, written and performed by, has a tradition ...

Re: Issues 2020: Electoral College

I'll put in a counter-point--- and not just to take the Devil's Advocate opinion for discussion purposes. There are several reasons to retain the system (and yet fix the problem) and really only one to ditch the electoral system. The one reason to change it is "sour grapes" that the Democratic candi...

Yes, we are essentially at the point of inferred genetic data using Slartibartfast tools.
But it isn't a database commonly accessible and will certainly get more accurate with time.

I'm in the process of learning the basics of causality and data analysis and am impressed by its utility.
