Re: On a Personal Level--Coronavirus COVID-19 Cancellations, etc.

My housekeeper just brought me a 3 month supply of toilet paper. On top of the 3 month supply I already had. And lots of canned food and food to freeze. I have tripled her salary for the duration of this situation. She has a family at home including a husband and a disabled adult daughter. Her othe...

Trump is known as a germaphobe who screams for "the stuff" to sanitise his hands every time he gets into the Royal Car.
Which is why I never bought the BS about him not getting tested. He gets tested every day.

Aren't those things called "scrunchies"? I've never heard them called ponytail holders.
Scrunchies are the fabric-covered ones. Like this:

Ponytail holders are like a thick rubber band with a woven coating. also known as hair ties.

I'm trying to do my part. My gym is closed and they're not billing me. But I still have sessions via facetime with my personal trainer. He's out of a job for the foreseeable future, but nothing has changed for us financially, so I can afford to pay him directly. Same with the registered dietitian I'...

Re: Coronavirus Cancellations & Postponements / Travel & Events COVID-19

On another note: I just heard of a different group of people that is getting in trouble: those that live in an RV and are sometimes on the move and sometimes semi-resident. Many states have ordered RV parks to close down as if they were holiday camping facilities, and the RV owners are forced out. ...

Re: H.R.6201 - Families First Coronavirus Response Act / Emergency Stimulus / Defense Production Act

I don’t know where else to put this, but since it involves stimulus, I’ll talk about it here. I’ve seen a couple of people on my facebook feed talking about How horrible it would be to bail out the cruise industry since the ships are all foreign-flagged vessels “all to avoid U.S. taxes.” I don’t kno...

We’re at the cabin. I’m hanging out watching totally mindless television (Survivor) and sewing masks, and my husband is working. He works for FEMA. He’s in his happy place doing meaningful and important work, and I have noise-cancelling headphones, so I can tune it out.

Re: New Diseases - Coronavirus

Maybe this has been answered already but can Trump even order a national lockdown? Seems like that might be a state thing. Trump can close the national borders, but not the borders between states. And he can’t order states to lock down. And it’s unlikely that he would, even if he could. Some red st...

Re: On a Personal Level--Coronavirus COVID-19 Cancellations, etc.

One if the greatest lessons I learned in Thailand is that you can live without toilet paper. You had to completely remove your pants and underwear and hang them on a hook or they’d get soaked. Then you wash yourself with water from a cistern next to the toilet, and after you wash yourself, you wash ...

Pasta is easy to make... if you can lay your hands of flour and eggs, that is. I had a bunch of canned goods and boxes of pasta bagged up to take to the food bank. I’m going to hang onto it for a while, I think. Does that make me a bad person? I’m fragile emotionally right now, and things I can do t...
