Re: The Splitting up of Families

From Facebook. WARNING— I’ve not done any research on this... Those of us in the adoption reform and rights community have been worried about this for awhile. There is only 1 birthmother to like 36 want-to-be adopters, many MANY of them evangelicals. They don't want children from the foster system,...

Re: The Splitting up of Families

The 6/19 Maddow show is being rerun right now. About 30 minutes in (including the commercials), a woman named Dahlia, senior editor for slate.com appears. She mentions the claim that these are bad parents and possibly adoption may occur. The video should be available tomorrow.

Re: The Splitting up of Families

During the first 1/2 hour of the Maddow show, a guest said that there is government chatter that the parents are unfit because they brought their children on a dangerous trek to the US, so the children could be placed in adoption. Did anyone else hear that part of the show? I'll try to find a tape ...

At a great distance the millions of stars of the Milky Way sketch a river of light across the night sky. Near to us is the fury of the volcano, threatening all who behold it. The photog...

Exactly. Though the roots go back so much further than that, don't they.
Yes, they do. The signs were there. I hoped that Obama's election steered us in a different direction. That hope was crushed.

Stephen K. Bannon has won He was fired 10 months ago, but Stephen K. Bannon has won. Truculent, anti-immigrant nationalism; disdain for the “deep state”; disparaging democratic allies while celebrating dictators: These are now the pillars of President Trump’s rule. In his administration’s policy, f...

He's basically using the plot of The Camp of the Saints, Bannon's favorite book. Migrants swarm southern France, warmly welcomed by liberals. Things don't go well. The migrants make their way north, having no desire to assimilate to French culture, but continuing to demand a First World standard of ...

Is anyone else thinking that that youngest, healthiest and whitest-looking children are going to somehow be declared orphans and adopted out to "deserving" (read, rich, Republican, and/or Evangelical Christian) families? No, just me? Gaslighting, it needs not be said, is Trump’s preferred mode of c...
