Re: Musical Interlude

Archie reached the finals at AGT. He almost lost it when TV showed his daughter who he just learned existed. He cried through the whole thing. But he made it made to the finals and came in 2nd place.

‘It’s like every red flag’: Trump-ordered HHS ad blitz raises alarms The health department is moving quickly on a highly unusual advertising campaign to "defeat despair" about the coronavirus, a $300 million-plus effort that was shaped by a political appointee close to President Donald Trump and ex...

Re: All Dogz Worthy

Ted's doing well. He's on basic thyroid support, and his autoimmune medication has dropped to half. Another blood test tomorrow. The extra happy news is that a person who worked at his doggie daycare (which he loved and closed down) is now offering care in her backyard and house. On his first day th...

But the cards will come, I'm sure ... and will have Trump's name prominently on the face. (or maybe even his picture giving a big thumbs-up, too!) And, with any luck, will result in DECLINED and a sad trombone noise when people try to use them. A lot of businesses and local government offices offer...

Re: Opening up is hard to do.

People arriving from outside of Hawaii and people arriving on neighbor islands from Oahu go straight into 14 days of quarantine. They have to quarantine in places where they are monitored - mostly approved hotels which call the police if the people step outside of their units. The state can't restri...

Re: Opening up is hard to do.

Well, shit. Oahu went ahead with reducing the lockdown restrictions. Minor changes, but still .... It's too early, rates are too high. Today's report is 3 additional deaths, and 113 new COVID-19 cases on 97 were on Oahu, 14 were on the Big Island and 2 on Kauai. The new infections were out of 1,445 ...

I hate that picture above about the low death rate. Stupid shithead governor.... Every day there is more research released about damage done, even if a person was asymptomatic or had mild symptoms. We won't know for years about the impact on young children. People who rely on science are alr...

Re: Opening up is hard to do.

Well, so much for lifting lockdown rules next week in Hawaii. 154 new cases today on Oahu. The Big Island has 13 new cases. Deaths are piling up.

If Oahu had kept its new cases under 100 for a few more days, more places could reopen (again). BUT NOOOOOO!!!!

I doubt I will watch the debate. I have no confidence in the moderators to stop Trump from interrupting, looming over Biden, and generally being a shithead. He might not even stop short of peeing on Biden's leg.

Re: H.R.6201 - Families First Coronavirus Response Act / Emergency Stimulus CARES Act / Defense Production Act

So much of the relief funding has gone into pockets of companies (and government departments) that aren't doing a damn thing to create and preserve jobs, keep families afloat, ensure food, provide medical equipment, etc. When we finally total the amount of relief funding that has reached the pockets...

Cause Trump sez kids don't get covid19, or if they do, no symptoms or very mild ones. So there! Works great, unless you listen to experts. He warned young people who were lax about COVID-19 that if they became infected, there’s a possibility it could cause damage and “you could pay for that years af...

New paper on the impact of covid19 on the brain. Loss of taste & small indicates that the virus will reach the brain. A surprise to me: the Spanish Flu was linked to Parkinson's Disease. “The question of viruses causing Parkinson’s has been in the literature since after the Spanish Flu in the 1920s....

Almost all the signs here are for county and state candidates. Apparently, there are 2 trump signs on my island. I only know that because the owners complained that the signs were vandalized.

The Biden/Harris signs are arriving this week.

Re: Fire!

I brought it up partly because I remember the 1988 Yellowstone fires pretty well (and how there was a lot of gloom and doom, but in my mind Yellowstone would recover because fires happen). But these are affecting how many people? Which is what people care about. The early European settlers admired ...

We are quickly approaching 7 million cases (currently over 6.9 million). Given the percentage of asymptomatic people who have organ damage (currently looks like 30%), we're in for a world of hurt. I'm particularly looking at the children who have "mild" symptoms, who will not have received any medic...

Today was a horrible day; my car got totaled with me in it. I’m jolted but otherwise fine. Dual road, two lanes each direction 45mph we were bending a slight curve to the right, light ahead. The car in front stepped on her brake so I stepped on mine and suddenly got plowed in the rear end by a blue...

On June 2, officers, who arrived while Furdge and a friend were moving in, said they received a call from a neighbor, who was suspicious that the men were on the porch. There's the big problem. Neighbor assumes Blacks can't be in their neighborhood unless it's a crime. The cops were pretty specific...

Re: Ruth Bader Ginsburg (1933 - 2020), and her successor

RBG visited Hawaii several times and spoke at high schools and UH Law School (from whence our Mike Dunford graduated).

Shortly after the sad news broke, our governor ordered flags to be flown at half-mast immediately.

A couple of photos from her visits...
