Re: Online Grocery Shopping

It's been fun. I found a lot of good family gossip. Like one grandfather being busted for trying to buy pot and the other getting him out. This was during Prohibition and the grandpa who sprung him was a state narcotics agent.

Re: Our Big Gay Gossip, Hottie Alert and News/Opinion Lounge (All Are Welcome)

I did know at least some of the gay guys in high school. I don't know why, maybe because I was a quiet, shy, nerdy band girl and the band gays felt comfortable with me. I even knew where the gay bar in Wilkes-Barre was. Yes, there was a gay bar there starting in the mid to late '70s. I'm still frien...

Re: Weather Alerts

Apparently the entirety of Pennsylvania is under tornado watch. I know Berks County (i.e., the county to our West) just upgraded to a tornado warning.

I missed you guys too. But, for a while, I just wanted to ignore Trump. After the election I set up five or six automatic monthly contributions to groups like ACLU, PP, NARAL, Lambda Legal and devoted myself to fooling around with my family tree. I just retired the end of March and I'm waiting for m...

Re: Gay Rights - LGBT - Same Sex Marriage

That's good news since Boyertown is just a hop, skip and a jump from me. And kind of surprising since it has the rep of being a conservative place.

Re: Online Grocery Shopping

I like Peapod because they're the cheapest. We have Freshdirect and Shoprite here in addition to Amazon. Freshdirect is an internet only market that serves NYC, NJ and the Philly area (and the Hamptons and Jersey Shore in the summer). With food they're kind of like Whole Foods, but with all or most ...

Re: Ireland

When I go to Eire I'll probably hang out in the West. Most of my ancestors were from County Mayo (or Galway or Roscommon due to shifting borders). I still think they should give me Irish citizenship since I'm related to half of County Mayo. Granted the relationship is 4 or so generations back, but l...

If North Calicaki got sane maybe I could convince the man to move there. Maybe somewhere in the mountains where it doesn't get so hot in the summer.

Re: Good places for retired persons to resettle

I keep thinking of places like Ecuador or maybe Panama with PG or Mexico with Addie, but realistically I'd be lucky if I could persuade the man to move out of Pennsylvania. I'd really like somewhere like Ireland, but they want you to have way more assets than the man and I will have even with my lum...

List of more reasons not to go to Texas:

1. 12 lb cockroaches.

Volky - does my guest room have a separate entrance to the patio? Is the margarita bar close by? Just asking. :daydream: I thought your guest room was at his place in Long Guyland. Re: Restaurant freak out in Santa Monica

I think I saw her in the Waffle House here about 3:00 am. She was sitting with William, who was in his crossing guard vest and carrying his toilet seat. He's looking for a "womangirlsingle" to marry. Maybe she's met her match. Obvious question; What were YOU doing in the Waffle House at 3:00 AM? :l...

now it's mainly apartments leased on an annual basis, requiring an application form (for which they charge a fee), then you have pass a credit check, background check, and be able to pay upfront the first and last month's rent, plus a security deposit. Most Americans simply haven't got that much ca...

Re: Florida Man

I recall an article that tried to make this an issue of social justice rather than quackery/scammery. The argument was that the very poor and desperate - especially transfolk - have no other way to make their bodies fit their identities than to go to quacks, because we don't provide free/subsidized...

The country would be better off if Bannon and Miller were to disappear into the Pine Barrens. I am not sure who would take their place and not confident it would be an improvement. I would also put Ryan into the Pine Barrens with an instruction to reread Ayn Rand as an adult. Yes, give them all to ...

I was calling him "the mighty butter knife", "the mighty play doh knife" and then, "the mighty broken spork". The spork comment seemed to work and people started calling him Sporky, and the title was then changed. I took a wander through memory lane yesterday (around when you first used the Mighty ...

Re: Robot Replacement of Human Workers

More and more restaurants now have touch screen ordering and paying reducing the need for wait staff. http://www.ziosk.com/ IMHO And it cuts into their tips. Why pay full service for only half service? It also pretty much puts the tip on the plastic VISA where it's reported to the IRS and allows ma...
