Re: The Post and Email

All this hard work by Rondeau. But for her there is one disappointing fact: Barack Obama was born in Hawaii after Hawaii became a state. Yeah, she acts like this is some sort of new revelation. No one has ever disputed that only a person born a US citizen can be President. Besides, at this l...

Re: CHRISTOPHER BRUCE: The Mighty Spork

I would think that part of his probationary status would include some travel restrictions. He might not get a passport. And I don't he'd be able to get past the first five minutes of an interview with whoever it is that handles residency in Mexico, if he did manage to get down there. I was also str...

Re: CHRISTOPHER BRUCE: The Mighty Spork

As if Mexico doesn't already have enough problems. Will his legal problems be an issue getting residency? I would think that part of his probationary status would include some travel restrictions. Re: Rudy Giuliani

Why would Rudy have been Trump's client? Wouldn't it be the other way around? And if they did not have an attorney/client relationship, then there's no a/c privilege. And, while IANAL, my understanding is that a/c privilege does not apply to actions taken in the commission of a crime. So if it is d...

Re: All the President's pardons

If you read the full exchange I was agreeing with Greggs point about the lack of standards for pardons (or commutations). It was not a defense of the pardons of war criminals or potential pardons of criminals like Stone, simply lamenting the current state of affairs. But that's the thing about pard...

If Trump pardons Stone will he also be pardoning Dick Nixon?
No, no, no.

You have it backwards.

Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon. Therefore, since Stone has a portrait of Nixon tattooed on his back, the Ford pardon of Nixon applies to Stone as well.

Stone has already been pardoned.

Is Saucier arguing that, despite robbing a bank, he shouldn't have been prosecuted because somewhere else a bank got robbed and that bank robber didn't get prosecuted? (not calling HRC a bank robber, BTW, just trying to get my head around the reason for this lawsuit.) Essentially, yes. The argument...

 My interpretation of "not recognizing dual citizenship" (in any country) is that the country's laws say that if you're a citizen of that country then the authorities will ignore any other citizenship that you have or claim to have. So no diplomatic immunity, no special tax treatment, etc. C...

If I understand correctly, they are dual citizens. It looks as if most of them return to the United States of America, have their children born there, then go back to Mexico. That makes the children automatically US citizens. Under Mexican law, children born to Mexican citizens, even born outside o...

Re: NY Federal Judge Strikes Down "Conscience Rule"

I think that the arguments in favor of the "conscience rule" are akin to those espoused by the sovereign citizens: "I don't have to obey a law I don't agree with". If a nurse or other health care worked doesn't approve of abortions, they shouldn't take a job in a clinic that performs abortions. If a...

He should insist on being tried in a court with a gold-fringed flag.

Worse, it's putting personal political interest ahead of the national interest. Whether or not a bribe or extortion took place, it is simply dereliction of duty for the President to place his personal interests above those of the country. Very true. And, its worth remembering that impeachment does ...
