Re: What are you watching on TV these days?

Watched The Highwaymen on a suggestion from a family member - partly based on the fact that they remember that for a few years I owned a nicely maintained 5-window '33 Ford Deluxe with those weird doors. I cringed at what they did to them in some of the scenes! The fact that I like both Harrelson an...

UK - The babysitter government :snippity: The proposals, put forward in a white paper by the UK's Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, call for a new independent regulator that would police these platforms for harmful content. It will have the power to issue major fines and even hold i...

Re: ... and put your left hand on your phone.

As I understand it, North Carolina is one of the few states that constitutionally, at least, requires office holders to have a belief in God. I'm not aware of how that could be enforced, but IIR, it's still in the constitution even though a similar construct in Maryland was struck down by SCOTUS. He...

Re: Aging - it's not for fraidy cats

:snippity: One thing I did do was I had a second handrail put in to the staircase so that there are rails on both sides. But right now the physical therapist doesn’t think that’s good enough. That's a good idea but your physical therapist is probably right. Funny how they just seem to know stuff ab...

Chances are, you or someone you know may be the owner of a refurb phone CVE or other companies like them have processed and redistributed through the marketplace. It's a hugely competitive industry. Millions of devices are returned and refurbished then sold at discounts through the major players. Th...

Things have gotten complicated. They now say that Saturday I had pneumonia which ran all the way into toxic shock which led to my drastic drop in blood pressure. They’re not sure of the specific infectious agent which has given me the pneumonia but they have found at least one. I’m on multiple anti...

I want Jones to lose. But I'm also glad that he's got competent counsel - because there are legitimate First Amendment issues there that deserve to be litigated fully. Jones is a vile example of someone who built a loathsome media platform for purely nefarious commercial purposes, but we really do ...

It's nothing more than an "are you still beating your wife?" form of inquiry designed to induce scorn whether there should be any or not.

Good fodder for anti-conservative publicity and newsfeed blather but little else. :bored:

I was surprised to learn that doctors and pharmacies in the US still use fax machines to send prescriptions to each other (and the medical center can't handle on-line payments). It's because the original documents they use have a special hidden watermark that will show up in a fax to make the presc...

There's nothing at the border that has anything to do with religious belief.
The demographic group most against immigration is white evangelicals. Religion, or the pretense thereto, is relevant.
Ah, religious bigotry rears its ugly head.

I would prefer news, not analysis.

Unfortunately, there are few sources of news without their analytical spin available.

Can you think of a better way to deter those who are thinking about joining in the caravans than to scare them with the prospect of running into the U.S. Army at the border? Something tells me this is little more than a strategic "show of force" to discourage additional potential migrants from joining in to a lost cause. The ground troops get deployment and maneuver training in a desert environment and the readiness folks get to do the typical logistic and force-coordin...

There has to be a better way to determine firearm ownership potential than putting mental patients on a list of criminals.

Indeed.

Paul did more for any number of important causes than appeared in the major news outlets. The Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum is a testament to his dedication to authentic restoration of historical artifacts.

Indeed, a thank you and RIP is due.

Put aside any potential differences you may have with the man and his politics. Just, for the sake of argument assume that on every point of policy he agreed with you to the letter. If you were interviewing him for a job as say, the controller of mid sized public company, would you still be even ta...
