The rabies series is not cheap, as we discovered when a friend required them after handling one of her horses who was diagnosed with rabies and destroyed. Everyone who knew her immediately called their vet and requested innoculation for their horses, which was optional in this part of Colorado. I ke...

Not to mention the higher cost of Canadian lumber and other building materials.

Sure glad we flooded out last year and not now.

Then we have a First Lady who is, rather deliberately, promoting a fashion in footwear that is, if imitated, damaging to most women's feet. To be fair, the majority of footwear falls under this category, heels or no. Heels change the way you walk, but most shoes warp your feet and screw up how you ...

I don't know if this is a thing, but years ago I was told that wearing heels all the time changed the way the tendons and ligaments in the legs work, so after a while, it is more comfortable to wear heels then not. I never wore heels enough to find out, and I NEVER wore any heel more than two inches.

There's a new story from a family friend claiming that the husband was on the other side of town helping others to evacuate and that there was no warning of fire. That's the 3rd different story I've heard so far. Also, a neighbor was interviewed who said first responders were going door to door tel...

Re: Earthquake! (or maybe Volcano!)

I'm happy that there is a mandatory evacuation. The people staying were putting rescue crews in danger. I read the story of the man who was guided out by a drone. He waited until lava reached his driveway to evacuate, but, of course, it was too late. He called for a helicopter to pick him up, but f...

The other painful discussion that we must have is about physician assisted suicide.
Colorado now has some provisions for physician assisted suicide, though it is so hedged about that I am unlikely to ever be able to make use of it. However, I voted for it anyway since it's a start.

Breaking News - lava crosses Pohoiki Road, cutting off access to about 40 homes. Number of people trapped not known. Remember those helicopters I mentioned? They are in the area now, may be evacuating people this evening.

Watching on tv, link when I can find one.
I hope they get everyone out.

Guns = Cars. When you walk away, you leave them locked. To start them you need a key and/or fob device. You need to show basic knowledge and ability to have and use them. The bigger and more dangerous, the greater the requirements for ownership & operation. Children can't own & operate them. Drunks...

My husband has hemochromatosis. In theory, it was caught early before it did much damage. He does the regular phlebotomies: about once every two months. From what I remember of the research that I did when he was first diagnosed, joint pains can be one symptom of iron overload. Much sympathy. It suc...

I know why. Because when you’re on it it makes you feel like a god. That you can do anything— like build a whole house by yourself in a few hours, or write a 1000-page novel before dawn. Sounds a little like a manic phase. Years ago a friend was diagnosed with bi-polar disease in his early twenties...

I wondered what happened with the "sympathetic" alt juror who switched at the last minute. If female, perhaps she is one of those excessively socialized women who automatically smile anyone who makes eye contact and hence they thought she was sympathetic. (I also tend to smile automatically.)
