I can’t remember which book it was in (I think it was by the author who was not Bob Woodward who had unprecedented access but then wrote a tell-all), and he talked about how Jared and Ivanka were trying to decide which one of them was going to going to run first.
Michael Wolff?

Re: The Spawn of Trump

I think that whatever political ambitions Junior has will be crushed very quickly. Whatever appeal Senior has wasn't passed on to Junior. He just comes across as smarmy and rude. He won't even get the 30-40% Senior manages. A handful, at best. Ivanka, on the other hand, is not repulsive. I don't th...

Re: Mueller's investigation

I wonder what they think he lied about and how it pertains. This is pretty obvious: The stuff that came out in the Stone trial. Which isn't super helpful, because Trump's dishonest answer was an "I don't recall" type answer. Adding an article of impeachment for perjury on the basis that the Preside...

Re: Mueller's investigation

I don't read this as anything more than statements Letter made to advance the case on appeal. Yes, but they are statements the GOP can point to and say, "See! This impeachment investigation is just about going over the Mueller thing again because the report was a dud and Mueller's testimony flopped!"

Re: Mueller's investigation

Ugh. I disagree with the celebration. Trump wants to make the impeachment inquiry look like a rehash of the Mueller probe. The House lawyers telling the court that things involving Mueller's investigation are "a key part of the impeachment inquiry" may strengthen their legal hand as far as getting t...

Re: Intelligence/Judiciary Impeachment Investigation: Trump Obstruction; Suborning Perjury; Whistleblower(s)

One of the problems Republicans are going to have is that many of trump’s defenders appear to be, shall we say, not as intelligent as might be optimal. Johnson is dumb as a hoe. The more we see and hear from Johnson, the better for Dems. And the better for truth, justice and the American way. As hi...

Re: The Spawn of Trump

I've been making a sincere effort to find silver linings in today's depressing political climate. One aspect of the transparent, admitted dynastic aspirations of the House of Trump that gives me a great deal of comfort is the historical pattern of what happens to dynasties riddled by dysfunction and...

I bet it's like those commie countries, the whole party agrees. For the American Republicans it is what remains from their prior glory after all others defected :blackeye: This is exactly the end point of Trump's (and the Federalist Society's, for that matter) vision of America. The already view al...

Yes. Hopefully to tell Pompeo to pack his shit, and by the way, don't ask for an endorsement for the Kansas senate seat.

I know, that's probably not going to happen, but I can dream, right? :daydream:

That line from Campbell might be the most bizarre case of pearl clutching I've ever seen, but it's so weird to be thinking, "Right on, Piers Morgan!"

I hope I never feel this way about Morgan again.

ARRRRGH! Even Max Boot's excellent article doesn't make the explicit connection: Barr expressly doesn't think that Democratic presidents are entitled to benefit from the imperial presidency, only Republican ones. Barr isn't "conveniently forgetting" anything about what Republicans did to Clinton and...

I saw that Bloomberg piece on Friday. Rudy of all people knows that once things like that start leaking to the press, it's only a matter of time before a grand jury is voting on it. And the delicious part is that the prosecutors will probably save themselves a lot of trouble by not having to send hi...

Re: USA v Roger J. Stone, Jr., USDC-DC, Obstruction, False Statements, Witness Tampering

In fairness, Stone doesn't count on that list, because he was never employed by the Executive Branch. Same for Manafort, Gates, and Papadopoulos. Flynn would be the only one that counts. I'm betting that the stats for the Nixon administration also included individuals who were not part of the execu...

I've gone back and reread Barr's remarks to the Federalist Society, an organization I more and more believe to be borderline-seditious and a clear and present danger to constitutional democracy. I really can't overstate how appalling Barr's speech is. The man is a menace.

SNL opening last night was a disappointment. In the last few weeks SNL has struck out in its openings. There is an oversupply of riches and the writers have missed all of it. I could not possibly disagree with this more. The whole premise was making fun of the inane criticism from media types like ...

Re: Round-Earth Deniers: The Great Balloon Project

CNN has a long piece up about Flat-Earthers and their growing number of conferences. They have answers for everything. The reality, says Davidson, is that the flat Earth, sun, moon and stars are contained in a "Truman Show"-like dome. From there, pitfalls can be easily dismissed -- like photos of th...
