Re: On a Personal Level--Coronavirus COVID-19 Cancellations, etc.

:snippity: Thanks guys. Had a phone call from the nurse and it looks like I just have a cold or something. Have a really horrid sinus pain right now and a bit of chest pain but I'm not dying. She said to call her again if it get worse but that I don't need to self isolate or anything. Phew! Those s...

Re: On a Personal Level--Coronavirus COVID-19 Cancellations, etc.

Turns out a guy in my apartment house has it, so I've probably been exposed at some point. GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD or not. Ive had a headache since yesterday so I'm going to spend the next week paranoid about every cough. Free entertainment! I know what you mean about paranoia. I’m forever going around...

Re: Coronavirus Cancellations & Postponements / Travel & Events COVID-19

The local upscale grocery store where I normally shop - Lund’s & Byerly’s - sent out an email saying that their hours are reduced to 7am - 9pm so that a thorough cleaning of the store can be done each night. They’ve also asked that only high risk customers shop from 7am to 8am, right after the over...

Re: President* Trump - *Impeached

The US has become a country where millions of people fear that their president, deprived of golf, deprived of his ego-boosting rallies, deprived of his self-perceived crowning glory—the rise of the stock market indices—will impulsively and petulantly destroy the country via tweets. From day 1, I loa...

Re: On a Personal Level--Coronavirus COVID-19 Cancellations, etc.

The months later thing worked so well that it's become a bit of a tradition on my mother's side of the family. We did the same thing for both her parents. A small ceremony for whoever can easily get there at the normal time, and burial of the ashes months later, with a family reunion of sorts built...

We would be smart to do that now ourselves. It might flatten the curve a bit. Around here, efforts to reduce the risk of infection seem to depend on your age demographic: People in their thirties, forties and fifties were packed into the coffee shop where we buy our beans. Spouse and I, on the othe...

Mrs. FRP and I are a lot more worried about her losing her job because of economic disruption than we are about either one of us getting sick. Yep. I've been planning a trip to KC since November, both to visit family, including a 95-yo mother, and Comicon. I've known for several days now it wasn't going to happen but I couldn't bring myself to pull the plug. Today, I put the flights on hold and have to tell mom I'm not coming. My 100+ year-old...

I am unable to visit my mother, who is a centenarian. She’s in her own apartment (with plenty of help), and her senior apartment complex has banned all visitors, including, for the moment, family members. I live two thousand miles from her, so a trip takes some planning. I agonize over this situatio...

Whatever happened to that project to place LaVoy memorials along the entire length of US Highway 395? That would be over 1300 miles of LaVoy memorials and maybe worth a road trip. Or not.
