Re: Hijack this thread

Suggestion for Mr. 520 and all husbands : What I do is, I set my wife's birthday as the PIN on all my debit cards and anything else that needs a four digit PIN. After entering it into a machine 200 or 300 times a year, I never yet have forgotten her birthday. Yeah, I'm betting that's not your pin.....

Re: Hijack this thread

Haven't stopped by in ages. Just wanted to update on the job front. Got an email back before summer asking if I was still interested in the job. Spent the summer finding relatives, etc. This morning I got an email asking me to come in for photo & fingerprints. Just waiting on a start date now.

So I've kind of become a Twitter junkie lately. It's amazing how lost one can get on that media platform when you have trouble sleeping, lol. If anyone is interested, you can follow me, @ELK03inDallas. I only have 5 followers right now but I pretend I have more. And I get very excited with the occa...

Our younger cancer survivor daughter just called. She got a job as a special education aide in a Dallas area school district. She had to leave her former job because of the cancer treatment. Pay is 24K $ which is not princely but she can live on that sharing an apartment with her boyfriend...

<Rant on> So I have a RWNJ brother. He's also a religious fundie, hasn't had a television since the 1970s 'cause as far back as that the fundie churches were telling their brainwashed victims congregants that they couldn't trust the mass media. His church went further by outright forbidding its obe...

Lani - if you're looking for access to WaPo and the Times, as well as the Star Advertiser plus some international papers too - I just heard you can get it with your Hawaii State Library card. I haven't done it yet but you can sign up for it online I believe. Check with your local branch for more in...

Caught part of the neighborhood parade today. Many ages, races, religions, etc., represented. And not one red MAGA hat in sight! For the win! The middle school band marched in two parades today. One was hosted by the LDS church, lots of bouncy houses, free food, etc. Saw a III shirt on a guy wearin...

Wait, so is there a CURE for this? Nope. The allergist says it sometimes "resolves itself" over time, but not always. And, of course, if I get bitten by another lone star tick, it'll come right back. Here's the little bastard (creepy insect alert): https://naturalunseenhazards.files.word...

OK, the SR-72 is on back order, but I got a great deal on it. All the extras ... fake chrome spinning hubcaps, 8-track cassette player (ask grandpa), huge pair of truck nuts, hood scoop, Calvin urinating sticker and fake bullet holes ... the dealer even threw in the rust-proofing package, no charge...

Pretty please?

I hope the SR-72 is as sexy as the 71. It's quite possibly my favorite plane. Maybe tied with F-16.

Re: What are you watching on TV these days?

Last week BBC America did a marathon of Torchwood series 1 and 2. I recorded them and am now working my way through them. I watched the series when it was broadcast years ago (PBS, maybe?) and enjoyed it (but gave up with series 3 - Children of Earth). What surprised me this time around is how much...

Cashew cheese is pretty easy to make. You can use raw or roasted nuts, soak for several hours (makes the texture creamier), drain, toss in food processor. You can add all kinds to things to it - garlic, chives, pepper, etc. Here's a recipe: http://cleanfooddirtygirl.com/cashew-cheese-easy-recipe/ O...

Re: What are you reading lately?

Sigh. You all read the books I should be reading. Reading this thread is like looking at folks talking about PBS or BBC shows while you sit down to reruns of Andy Griffith (the old ones with Barney) or Hogan's Heroes. My library books tend towards John Sandford, J.D. Robb, Kim Harrison, David Balda...
