Re: What are you watching on TV these days?

So, I started watching Ozark a couple of weeks ago. Last night I finished the last two or three episodes of Season 3. That is a really good show. I wasn't 100% surprised by what happened at the end of the last episode but thought it would play out more slowly. Westworld. I'm not loving or ha...

Re: Corona Virus Whackadoodles, Whackjobs and Conspiracy Theories (other than from the White House)

She is possibly confusing bacteria with viruses. Bacteria are very small and can be absorbed through skin but viruses cannot. Bacteria are larger than viri. I thought that was odd. Plus, your skin has so much bacteria living on the outside, I can't think of an analogy. Entire ecosystem maybe. But I...

Re: On a Personal Level--Coronavirus COVID-19 Cancellations, etc.

So, Volusia County went from 80 total cases on 4/1/2020 to 93 cases on 4/2/2020 and it's only 11 AM. 873 people have been tested in my county and the DOH website indicates 3 people are "awaiting testing". I'm wondering if "awaiting testing" actually means awaiting results or does is really mean that...

CNN : Documents show backlog of 160,000 coronavirus tests at just one lab company (CNN) As the US health care system has scrambled to track the spread of coronavirus, one of the nation's largest commercial labs has faced a backlog of tests that ballooned in the last two weeks, and has delayed resul...

https://t.co/ccHBTIFxkq?amp=1 Why are Office Depots still open? I suspect, with so many working from home, office supply stores are considered essential services now. Good point. Yeah, I had to pick up some supplies myself. You order online or call and they will bring it out to your car.

Re: Corona Virus Whackadoodles, Whackjobs and Conspiracy Theories (other than from the White House)

A new one for me yesterday, from a woman I know. You can get the virus by absorption through your skin. I asked for cites, and gave her several links to articles that specifically refuted it, and her response was that she wasn't stupid, she took biology in college and knows that your skin is permea...

Re: Coronavirus: Health Care Industry

When COVID-19 moves into rural areas - and it will - Red America is going to get it way worse than the cities, specifically because of the problems with running for-profit health care in areas that are not densely populated. Small hospitals are going to go bankrupt and need to be bailed out, and th...

What I'm NOT watching? Trump's Me Me Me Me Me Daily Updates. I turn if OFF, not just turn down the volume. I don't want my TV tuned into any channel during the hour or so that windbag is bloviating. I can watch Fauci on Youtube any time I want.

Some of you may remember a story from Florida that made national news. I realize that is rare. ;) The particular story I'm talking about is a family of four - husband, wife, two young boys - who were found shot on the side of the Florida Turnpike. Apparently the parents were involved with drug deale...

Re: New Diseases - Coronavirus

Florida is on the cusp of 7,000 cases and has publicly admitted 87 deaths. I notice on the worldometer they seem to update Florida stats very late at night. You can click on the Yesterday button and see the total from the day before. The US has gone from 2/1,000,000 deaths to 14/1,000,000 in just ov...

I plan to make it next time, had an unexpected project drop on my lap today, related to the coronavirus. We'll be doing testing and have to set up programming to put new analyzers on the line. Fun stuff.

At least they have good health insurance.
:bighug: I'm so sorry. I hope they get results back quickly and experience something mild at most, regardless of the outcome of the test.

Re: New Diseases - Coronavirus

So, back to US death count (sorry, I'm morbid that way). Last Thursday it was just over 1,000. I think it was Saturday it went over 2,000. This morning it's over 3,000. I see chatter on the internet that it's now all the fault of the Democrats and being distracted during the impeachment process. Sh...

The USS Theodore Roosevelt has almost 200 sailors that have tested positive. There is a link to an article behind a paywall, but the thread gives some information.

Interesting thread about Faux Noise, how they can lose so many advertisers but still maintain profitability. It's all in how aggressively they charge cable companies to carry their channel, charging far above what all other outlets are able to get. They inundate their viewers with claims they are be...

Re: On a Personal Level--Coronavirus COVID-19 Cancellations, etc.

Hawaii Covid19 cases just doubled in only 5 days. There are 3000 tests sent to a mainland lab that will take a week to get the result. Shit's getting real. 204 cases now, which isn't much compared to New Hampshire (similar population) which has 314 cases. But Hawaii doubled in 5 days. :( :bighug: :...

Re: New Diseases - Coronavirus

Volusia County, FL now has 5 more cases than yesterday.

Traffic seems less today than normal, so it seems that people have decided to take it a little more seriously here in Volusia, finally. Today is the first day that I have noticed any change in traffic and activity outside my house.
