Re: What are you watching on TV these days?

I am completely hooked on the Great British Baking show, ('m not sure I'm getting the name right) I'm not much of a cook, and I love how they slip in little science-y details about proving and gluten, while making these fascinating baked goods. Plus I always love all the contestants - they are a bre...

Re: What in the world would Sterngard Friegen say?

I'm late to the thread (I should probably change my name from stoppingby to showinguplate) but I feel this place is welcoming. I'm so grateful to read that. I have spent more than 8 years of my life running this website, and that's the most important thing I care about here. Thank you. :whisper: I ...

Re: What in the world would Sterngard Friegen say?

I'm late to the thread (I should probably change my name from stoppingby to showinguplate) but I feel this place is welcoming. I'm an infrequent poster, mainly because I enjoy reading posts more than writing them, but I rarely get offended by anyone's response, and if I do, I just remind myself of a...

Re: Gavin Seim

No offense to Mrs. Seim, lord knows she has enough to deal with, but she always seems oddly proportioned in the photos. For example, in a past photo her head seemed weirdly small compared to her body, in this last photo, her torso seems strangely elongated, perhaps some sort of really bad angle, or ...

Re: Arizona US Senate 2018

Signature verification is a stupid way of checking anything these days. My mother had an artful and beautiful signature such that you could scan 10 documents with it and not one of them would be even one pixel different from another. Mine is decent but can vary slightly. And many people just have s...

Today is the day I regret having given up cable. I miss my CNN wall-to-wall coverage.
Somewhere (here or on the net) I read that CNN is offering election news free - no cable.
That would be spectacular! Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out!

i105.jpg I actually came here to post that, but you ninja'd me! I laughed out loud when I saw that on Facebook. I had my game face on walking into the polling station. I voted. There was actually a line, which was unusual. Since I live in a blue precinct in a red district, I'm kind of hopeful this is a good sign.

Tallahassee Yoga Shooter Was A Far-Right Misogynist Who Railed Against Women And Minorities Online Sadly, this does not surprise me and was kinda what I was expecting. Yoga and yoga studios are a common recurring image in that community. Really? What in the world do they have against yoga?

Re: Senator Warren Has Some Serious Class

What that two-to-the tenth fraction does show is that Elizabeth Warren's family was here, in America, for the American Revolution, and possibly even earlier. It's nice to know there's a candidate who is probably qualified for DAR membership. In years to come, such candidates will be very scarce. I ...

A few miles further down the road, is Cairo, Illinois. In the 1960s, the city filled the municipal swimming pool with cement rather than integrate it. I don't think there is any coincidence why Trump is there. Cairo is now predominantly African-American, although it does have a really racist histor...

I didn't notice the misspelling. I did notice there were only 6 Forever Stamps... Must be quite small of a device to weigh so little that $3.00 postage be enough. Now we know it isn't a false flag operation by liberals. They didn't spell Schultz correctly. Us urban liberal faux intellectual weenies...

Playing devil's advocate... if you had a gun and fired a couple shots that you knew weren't going to hit the creep, you might have scared him into not doing that again. Considering my lack of hand-eye coordination and generalized clumsiness, I would have probably been more likely to accidentally sh...

I live in an area that would be considered a high-crime section of town. About 5:30 am Sunday morning, i was awakened by a strange noise. I thought I picture had fallen off a wall. The power was out. I'm currently watching Broadchurch on netflix. Its an incredibly well-written murder mystery set in a small town in Great Britain. I love the lead female investigator, who hates her supervisor (who is the male lead). Best line so far from her: "get away from me before I piss into a cup and throw it...

In regards to the settlement, I wonder if the plunging stock price was a painful wake up call? In one of the blogs I read a few weeks ago about Tesla, the author pointed out that Musk had presumably borrowed against his Tesla stock to fund his other projects, such as SpaceX, the Boring Company, that...
