Re: Will Kavanaugh Make It Until Monday's Hearing with Dr. Christine Blasey Ford?

The other guy in the room, Mark Judge, is telling the Senate he won't testify: https://www.politico.com/story/2018/09/18/grassley-kavanaugh-accuser-hearing-827921 I think if she shows up, and she's even reasonably credible, the fact that Kavanaugh's buddy won't show up, and has written books about h...

Re: Hijack this thread

Oh, and I've started doing Door Dash a couple of days a week for extra money. So far not so bad, delivery wise. Easier than Domino's that is for sure. Now, if only I could get a Red Card (used when the business won't take online payments) that worked. If it doesn't work, I pay out of pocket and get...

I just came here to post the article from The Atlantic on Poland, but I see Addie has beaten me to it. It is long, but definitely worth the read.

Re: Hijack this thread

My brother and I had issues when we were growing up, which carried into adulthood. But since my mother's health declined, we sorted them out over a couple of years (albeit with some yelling) and he's now a complete emotional rock for me to lean on. I am the only local family my mom has (he lives acr...

Re: Who wrote the New York Times Op-Ed? 9/5/18

Considering many of the likely subjects employ (or have employed) speechwriters, I think it would be very easy for one of them to ask a friend, or former speechwriter, to write the op-ed expressing the official's point of view, and then high-ranking official then submits it, alleging it is from him....

At lunch today I was browsing the news, and saw that tesla's stock is dropping due to a bunch of executives leaving. I felt weirdly pleased with this, and wondered why I had developed such a dislike of Musk. I realized it's the cave diver thing. I despise people who throw the pedophile label around ...

Musk has also been attacking that cave diver again. Musk is starting to come across as the Trump of silicon valley. Its too bad, too. I'm really hopeful about electric cars. But it sounds like other companies are seriously going after the electric car market, so hopefully we will still keep progress...

So Sessions hasn't denied being the author? I don't think he wrote it, but it would make me laugh if he let Trump wonder whether he did.

Re: The Question of Presidential Inability

I was half leaning towards Mnuchin. He, like Javanka, hopes to slither back into the good graces of New York society once this is done. So writing an op ed portraying himself as falling on the grenade on behalf of an ungrateful nation would be part of that. My second guess is Dan Coats, who is an ol...

Howdy! Zydeco is cruising right along. We’re getting lots of good gigs and somewhat higher paying gigs. We are regularly hired for all of the So Cal zydeco festivals and also getting some in NorCal and places like casinos in Laughlin. Got a big road trip in about a week to a festival near Sacrament...

I rarely agreed with McCain, and there were a few times he enraged me (Palin, and his slow response to the accusations that Obama was a muslim) but in the end, he was, I believe, an honorable and decent man who tried to do what he believed was right. He is one of the few republicans I would say that...

Musk released a statement today, trying to support his tweet about going private, and "funding secured." Recently, after the Saudi fund bought almost 5% of Tesla stock through the public markets, they reached out to ask for another meeting. That meeting took place on July 31st. During the meeting, t...

Why would she be fired in the situation room? Isn't that the top secret room used for military operations? (my knowledge based solely on careful study of "The West Wing" episodes.) Maybe he was concerned that all the other non-secure rooms had been bugged and didn't want any recordings of the conve...

Re: Why can counter-Trump protesters never be in group at rallies?

I really don't see how disrupting a Trump rally would do any good. Trump loves that- he has the microphone, the security, and the crowd on his side against even a 100 or so protesters. The power is all on his side - and he gets off on that. It would just give him a satisfaction he does not deserve. ...

Re: Trump's Culture War with the NFL, etc.

I completely despise the intertwining of the NFL and the military. The military uses these game day performances as a recruiting tool, and the NFL rakes in the dough and prattles on about "patriotism" and pretends it makes all these big patriotic showings (humongous, oversized flags; tickets to troo...
