Re: Happy Thanksgiving 2019, y'all!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone at the Fogbow. Thank you, Foggy, for keeping this place up and running. It means a lot to me. I took a break from politics a few months ago because I found it was just making me too angry, so I haven't been lurking here as much for awhile. But I love that I can drop in...

I would almost feel sorry for all these people caught up in Trump's corruption, but they knew damned well he was corrupt and incompetent. They were so focused on self-promotion that they didn't care who they signed up with. I hope that being in the Trump cabinet, or a Trump political appointee, beco...

Penzey's also was a big supporter of the women's march in 2017, if I remember correctly. There is something about the existence of a politically active spice company that just warms the cockles of my heart.

Re: "The Media is a goddam problem" General Thread

Just my general observation, but I find the media bends over backward to fit Trump into a normal presidential box. In doing so, they have normalized his abnormal behavior. And just a pet peeve of mine: they keep implying that Trump is some sort of Svengali genius to have risen to the presidency. He'...

A quick update on the extra stray cat that has joined my street's community cat - he keeps disappearing and reappearing on me, so I haven't been able to catch him yet. But after repeated postings and walking the neighborhood asking people, I finally found out where he came from -he's part of a group...

Okay, NOW he's gone too far! What does Trump expect me to drink? WATER?!? California wines and Tennessee whiskey ;) Usually for me it's Kentucky bourbon, but since bourbon popularity exploded it's hard to get my favorites. But California does make some lovely wines. So it looks like I won't be dyin...

Re: No Catz but Kate's OK

So, stray cat update. I called our local spay and neuter clinic which runs a community cat program and asked about getting the cat into the program. Unfortunately, I mentioned I couldn't know for certain that it was an abandoned cat - who knows, maybe he's lost? - so they said I have to file a found...

Re: No Catz but Kate's OK

Thanks, Sugar Magnolia and Kendra, for your advice. Unfortunately my area (a rustbelt city) is inundated with feral cats, and so the local ASPCA really won't take them in for adoption. Instead they refuse them or fix them and drop them back off to stay in the community. I'd rather arrange to do it m...

Re: Issues 2020: College Affordability

One thing that is overlooked in the college affordability debate has been the huge cuts in state financial support to public universities. At least in the midwest, most states started cutting their support in the 80s and 90s, and continued that trend through the great recession. Legislators (mainly ...

Plus, her story is supported by the photo of her with Prince Andrew, and the fact that some of the people she named as people she was forced to sleep with (Bill Richardson, for example) were later confirmed as having visited Epstein. What would be the likelihood that she come up with Richardson's n...

[/quote] I think Epstein was probably a pretty hedonistic person, and may or may not have crossed the line with how he indulged his appetite. But when it comes to Virginia Giuffre's accounts, I'm getting a strong "McMartin Pre-School" vibe. I think a more accurate picture of Jeffrey Epstein emerges...

This rally occurred in Pikeville, Kentucky, which is about as remote and rural as you can get. Its in the heart of Appalachia, and even by Appalachia's standards, is considered nowheresville. and still they couldn't draw a crowd.
