Re: What are you watching?

This insult in one episode is so subtle.
“You are like he who gives support (patron), like that which sweetens all that it covers (icing). You are a great poet (bard) and alike the heavens (starred).”

Re: What are you watching?

Going to 4 centuries in the past, I’ve enjoyed watching “Upstart Crow”. While at first it seemed to be mocking Shakespeare, it actually (to me) is almost an homage. It gives a perspective of the era it took place, with anachronistic humor that manages to relate somewhat to the present. It sparked an...

OK, good, Maybenaut. Kittens is what I do... Stray kitten mama started hanging around our house. 7/29 had litter under deck. Then moved them into detached garage. Wife heard them crying and found her with 3 kittens. We’re redoing kitchen and used cabinets packing to make area on porch for them. The...

Re: Spreadnecks: Coronavirus Anti-Maskers, Anti-Vaxxers, Etc.

Anecdotal story: A local Pediatrician was sold on horse dewormer. He had been taking it. He got COVID-19 and was in the hospital for 3 weeks. Got out and was still on oxygen. Then had a stroke. Ped practice is shut down indefinitely. My wife is newborn/NICU nurse and liked him but couldn’t figure ou...

Re: Where to live in the US (if you have a choice)

Thanks,
The Upper confused me. I’ve been to Wisconsin and as far north as Lake Orion in Michigan. The reason I asked was it seemed that what I heard was that Yoopers had a strong proud regional identity. Other areas around them acted like UP was almost a foreign country.

Even in some manufacturing IT security generally takes priority. Working in maintenance I typically had access anywhere in the plant. Not server rooms, in a couple places. We were installing a Liebert clean power supply in the early 90’s and were in and out frequently ( e.g. running conduit, laying ...

Karma is a real bitch, and when you add Darwinism in to the equation, well it just keeps going on. Somehow, I just don't equate dyeing with wining. Couldn’t help myself. Found this on the web. “ First, I grabbed two bottles of wine. One to dye my shirt, another to consume and fuel my vision, obviou...

Check with your local museum about any reciprocal museums. My museum membership card gives me access to museums all over the country and it's only $60 per year for 2 people. The cost of the Field isn't too bad. All access, including ticketed exhibits, is only 40$. It's the hotels in the area. Most ...

Re: Offensive Language

Once in a bar, drinking with a friend at that time. We were kidding and I called him something I thought was totally innocent, basically in my mind it was a grade school taunt. It’s at the end of one of Dirty Harry’s quotes asking if the kid felt lucky. It’s also used (at least in my geographic area...

(6 x 5) / 3 + 11 = 21 In RPN would be;
11 enter, 3 enter, 6 enter, 5 enter, * (times sign), SWAP, / (divide sign), +. Lots of other ways to do it do the divide without swap the do reciprocal. Learn order of operations very well.

RPN was one of the best things about HP calculators. Other thing was if someone borrowed it they always brought it back because it didn’t have an = sign. Same with trackballs, few people like using them.

Jeez-O-Pete. One step forward, two steps back on the health front involving rosacea, flesh-eating bacteria, and a trip to the emergency room. Maybe one of you can explain a loopy circuit in our 1863 house: There is a light in the ceiling at the top of the stairs, and a switch for it on the wall. There is another at the foot of the stairs. If you turn on the downstairs one, when you get upstairs both switch positions (on and off) leave th...

I bought a five-pack, gave one to each of my siblings and one to my father - in an attempt to keep them from frying themselves.
Five packs are good, I’ve given a few away to our kids and apprentices.

I forgot to add that a good non contact voltage tester is handy and good to have around, but doesn’t replace a quality meter. I, personally, prefer the Fluke 2AC. It’s always powered on, so can’t get a false negative reading. I just test every time I use it before and after checking. It doesn’t beep...
