Re: What are you watching on TV these days?

For the traditional murder mystery fan. Having read several of the books, I've now watched all 18 episodes a second time on Amazon Prime. Still marvelous. One of the best series ever, imo. ... Meanwhile, I'm into the terrific Brunetti Mysteries on MHz Choice; in German w/English subtitles....

Re: Comments solicited Family v $80B company

Several years ago I was injured at a retail store, badly enough to require an ambulance and a “gazillion” stitches. Despite having attended law school and despite virtually every member of my family being an attorney we got a non-family attorney who specialized in my type of injury then shut up and ...

Re: No Catz but Kate's OK

We used to play red dot until I realized one night that one of our cats had convinced herself red dot was in the hallway closet and spent about 12 hours staring motionless at the door. It made me feel like a bad cat mama. Besides Simba figured out immediately that we were somehow involved and lost i...

49F4BC58-5ACA-4AC1-854E-D3F4D98A81A0.jpeg We lost Weeny (the best cat in the world) last month. She was not a clever cat. Indeed she may have been the starting point of the cat iq curve. But she was the sweetest, gentlest, friendliest cat in the world. The last year or so she was blind, deafish and...

Re: Investing 101

One of the things I did early on is similar to what others have mentioned here.. The (brand new!) credit union at my first real job had the ability to take your direct-deposit check and divvy it up into various accounts.. I was making the big money ($23K/yr!) so one of the things I did was stash $7...

Re: Investing 101

Jez, I’m late to the party as usual but some suggestions... 1). 3-6 months of expenses in the bank. Keep it separate from checking so it takes a bit of work to get to it. Short term cds and/or money market. I know it isn’t sexy but it is important. 2). Always put the maximum percentage your company ...

Re: I HATE HOSPITALS AND SURGERIES, BUT ... Gonna Be Putting up With Both For a Few Days

Surgeon just came by and said everything went fine. Even better, they let us see him for a minute as he went into recovery and since he had the stent put in without anesthesia he was awake to say hi. And if you didn’t know how much of a badass realist is , he had a stent put in through the groin all...

Re: I HATE HOSPITALS AND SURGERIES, BUT ... Gonna Be Putting up With Both For a Few Days

I’ve tried to be as helpful as possible though realist has resisted my attempts to keep him in bubble wrap the last 6 weeks. So mainly I go to the vascular surgeons, neurologists etc and cry. We are fortunate to have some of the best doctors in the country. Our GP even dropped by the hospital after ...

I was part of Phil Berg’s website purge back 10 years ago. Charlene the batshit crazy mod there hated me with the power of a thousand suns. So I guess I’m one of the originals. 😀. 10 years later I’ve met loads of new friends, restored my faith in some of humanity and there is something else but I’m ...

We have something arrive from amazon almost every day. One day it’ll be cat diapers, the next Korean skincare products and fruitcake. Even with the trouble they’ve had due to the warehouse situation in NJ they are the most reliable I have found. I also lucked into buying their stock very early on. L...

Re: I Voted 2018! Voter Check In, Election Watch and Poll Conditions

As realist mentioned, we did early voting on Saturday. We ended up going to the senior center since it was closest and the average age of the electioneers their was at least 127 years old. Realist even had a lady who wasn't strong enough to tear off the form! :o They were very friendly though and ga...

We've told them to bring anything, everything and everyone including animals that they want but I just don't think they "get" how dangerous a storm like this can be. Last week realist bought me a cast iron dutch oven. He had been raving about cast iron for years but I have never used it. Sunday I made no-knead bread. Did quite the double take this morning when I checked into the hearing and saw one of my co-workers in the front row of spectators. Apparently he and Kavanaugh have been best buds since high school. Kind of surreal.

I believe it would take Democrat voters all pulling a straight Democrat ticket lever to oust Hogan. He’s popular on both sides of the aisle for a reason.

I certainly at this time plan to vote for him.
Same here.
