Re: Diabetes-lets talk

It's worth remembering that, before insulin was marketed as the treatment in 1922, the best medical regimen for diabetes was an Extremely Low-Carb diet. Yes, it forbids a lot of your favorites, altho - depending on the severity of your diabetes and how conscientious you have been about avoiding carb...

I suspect -- well, I think it's entirely reasonable to suppose -- that Jones and his lawyers were watching the Fetzer case and Fetzer's loss is causing serious strategy re-thinking.

Re: Resolution of Inquiry Re Impeachment; Commission to Declare President Incapacitated Re 25th Amendment

A contempt vote could lead to impeachment. The President does have the power to pardon for contempt of court -- Ex parte Grossman (1925) 267 US 87, 45 S.Ct 332, 69 L.Ed 527, 38 ALR 131 -- and there is no good reason why this power does not equally extend to contempt of Congress. But, in the instance...

Re: Senate/House Judiciary: AG William Barr Contempt of Congress Hearing - 5/8/19; Mueller Report

Yes the House could charge the various Trump mobsters with contempt. As show in the recent Arpaio instance, the President can pardon from contempt sentences. However, as shown by the Founding Fathers in the Virginia Convention to ratify the Constitution, 18 June 1788, if the President pardons his as...

Re: Anti-Abortion Pro-Life

If the Justices overturn Roe v. Wade, it may take more than voting in a whole new Congress to fix things. If the Supreme Court says that abortion is illegal under the Constitution then it is very probable that nothing short of a Constitutional Amendment may bring it back. And the chances of an Abort...

Re: Anti-Abortion Pro-Life

I think we should see through the deception: Georgia, Alabama, and the other Wire-Hanger States do not intend or plan to spend a dime or lift a finger to investigate or prosecute some woman or doctor. They really expect and intend that their new anti-abortion laws will be challenged in court before ...

Re: The Complete List of Democrats Running in 2020

It turns out that Super Tuesday - simultaneous primaries in 14 states - is scheduled for March 3rd 2020, only a week or two after a couple of isolated primaries. I fully expect a bunch of the current candidates to drop out by or immediately after Super Tuesday. Then we should be down to only four or...

Re: Arpaio (et al.) criminal contempt case

Altho the President may pardon criminals, if he pardons those involved in crimes which the President himself "advised", this would be grounds for impeachment. And we have this from the Founding Fathers in the 1788 Virginia Convention to ratify the US Constitution: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt...

Re: Arpaio (et al.) criminal contempt case

I would suppose that EVERY instance of Executive Clemency is an encroachment on the judiciary. But it was part and parcel of Anglo-Saxon law (and the law of a lot of other cultures) and, frankly, I know of no specific instance of a Presidential pardon being invalidated. (I had heard of a governor's ...

Re: The Democrats have to impeach him....

If the Democrats want to go ahead with impeachment, in the face of a stonewalling Republican Senate, then at the very least the Democrats should amass evidence from more than just the Mueller Report. The case for impeachment should be airtight, not just flamboyant.

Re: NRA Implodes- Lawsuits and Finances, Oh My!

I am curious as to how foreign donors get any benefit from subsidizing the NRA. The NRA is certainly burning the candle at both ends and, more important, seems to have a serious internal feud going on. Considering that both sides have been indoctrinated to resort to firearms, I wouldn't be very surp...

More than a distinct possibility. Re: Resolution of Inquiry Re Impeachment; Commission to Declare President Incapacitated Re 25th Amendment

The House should postpone consideration of any impeachment resolution because, once the President is in jeopardy of impeachment then he has an excuse for ignoring subpoenae by Congressional committees. This is shown by the case of diplomatic officer George F. Seward in 1875, who refused to comply wi...

She was a joy to watch and she will be missed.
