Re: What are you reading lately?

Interesting. Maybe it ends up staying closer to the books than I thought - what you describe certainly sounds a lot more like something I'd enjoy watching as it goes against the usual trope. I think I just may have to check that out!

I'd mentioned in my intro post that we'd just adopted a couple of new dogs, and here are the promised pictures :) This is Von, who's name comes from the Old Norse word for "Hope". He's 22 months old, and a Black Lab and probable Greyhound mix. He's VERY talkative, very fast and very curiou...

From what I understand, while we will not be sending any officials or other diplomats, our athletes will still be allowed to participate. I guess that's what they mean by "diplomatic boycott."

Re: What are you reading lately?

In the books, I feel like that was a long time ago. In the storyline of Leviathan Falls , that's so long ago (more than 20 years) it has no real impact; in other words, if you didn't remember it had happened, you wouldn't miss any of the meaning of anything in this book. I think that was all in jus...

I think it was Ronnny Jackson who made those comments. He resigned not long after and is now running for Congress. This was his replacement, Sean Conley.

We will learn more about Ethan with time. I could be wrong. But the words “The thoughts won’t stop. Help me.” say a lot. Maybe I'm just getting too cynical in my old age, but while part of me wants to believe that picture was a genuine cry for help, another part wonders if perhaps he drew it as a m...

Po' ol' Gangreen, that is indeed some serious industrial strength stupid. While she may be correct about the cancer rate, stopped clock metaphor, and heart disease as well, neither of them are contagious or transmittable. I seriously doubt if she even knows where South Africa is. Further down in th...

Yikes, WK. Fraught days. I tested positive today. :( I honestly thought it was just flu. I’ve been in bed for 11 days now, mostly isolated in the spare bedroom. For the first four days - the worst of it - installers were putting in our ductless AC/heater, drilling through the 6” wall next to my bed...

With my state suddenly jumping into worst place, on Tuesday the CEO of my utility send a company-wide email asking managers to let employees work from home if they were able, and encouraging employees to work from home. So I'm home yesterday and Monday, and my manager hopes to have a remote work po...

Re: What are you reading lately?

Leviathan Falls , by James S.A. Corey, the ninth (and final) book in The Expanse novels. The first 8 were excellent, so I expect no less. I think it (the series) was made into a big-production Tee Vee series (on Amazon Prime?), of which I have seen zero episodes. I prefer books, but that's just me,...
